Writer's Block: Book worms unite!
The Best Books:
1. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling: the entire series counts as one book for this post. I don't think I need to elaborate about what makes HP so awesome. I mean seriously, it is amazing. Just read it if you don't believe me.
2. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte: I love how the book is about love, horror, and finding yourself. Jane is a such a strong, wonderful character. I love everything about this book.
3. The Witching Hour by Anne Rice: This book is like a spell. The characters are unbelievable and unforgettable. There is never enough about the Mayfairs. The mysteries are never summed up perfectly, which makes the book for me more tantalizing. Addicting.
And the Worst Books:
1. The Twilight series: Yes, I read them. All of them. Atrocious. There is no editing in any of books, just long paragraphs and sentences that say the same thing fourteen times. And the real kicker is that Bella, the main character is fought over like a prize to be won. She has no thoughts outside of Edward/Jacob. The relationships are abusive and Bella is just a pawn. Bad writing and the girl can't even stick up for herself. Ugh.
2. The Virgin Queen by Philippa Gregory: It made Elizabeth I seem like a vain, silly, stupid girl. It is one thing to twist history but quite another to rip it apart and sew it back together backwards.
3. The Godfather by Mario Puzo: The book I found to be so much less than the film. The characters were wooden and the writing choppy. I'm sure this isn't the worst book ever written, but I found it to be an enormous let-down. The film I think "fleshed-out" a lot of the events and characters; made them more real and likable.
